The Aarogya Setu App, has been in use since its launch on 02 April 2020, post the spread of CORONA virus. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had launched this app and was made compulsory for those who were travelling across India and also for those who were required to be monitored as part of compulsory quarantine. The app has over 15 crore users till date. The need has been now felt to extend the services of this app, for those enterprise both government and private, so as to utilise the status details for provision of a safe and secure environment at institutions, offices and companies.
This new Aarogya Setu added feature has a new technological solution in order to help businesses and the economy to start functioning while being safe. The new Open API Service will enable organizations to check the status of the Aarogya Setu app of their employees and integrate it into its various Work from Home features. The Open API Service addresses the risk of COVID-19 infections and will assist businesses and the economy to return to normalcy.
This API will acts as a bridge for two applications to be able to talk to each other and exchange information. With the launch of the Aarogya Setu API, companies can register themselves to avail the services, following which they can be given the code which can be integrated into the programmes being run by these companies.
“They can use the open API service to query the Aarogya Setu application in real-time and get the health status of their employees or any other Aarogya Setu user, who have provided their consent for sharing their health status with the organisation,” the Ministry said in a statement.
MeitY has announced that presently, all those companies that have been registered in India with more than 50 employees can avail this facility. Organisations can easily check the health status of their employees on a real time basis using this interface and technology.
